Video Game Website Design

fall 2020

AUDIENCE: Video Game Lovers
CHANNEL: Interaction
PROJECT BRIEF:
Design and code a website based on a found article.

MY TAKE:
The article “How Video Games Affect the Brain” by Hannah Nichols, tackles into the positive and negative effects that video games have on the brain and behavior of the user. When it came to the design, the main idea was to make a website that resembled an actual video game. For the homepage, a muted color palette was introduced to let the user know that it was the start of the “game”. Each page was coded to represent a different level (L1, L2, L3), and world. The illustrations for the landscapes were kept simple and playful to make the user feel welcome. Some visual cues were included hinted towards the horizontal scroll, such as some informational text and icons with arrows.

WHAT I LEARNED:
It took some time to make the website work, but my coding skills was something that improved a lot.
